Obstetrician (FRANZCOG)

Paul is a highly experienced Obstetrician, having worked on the North Shore for the past 20 years. He was instrumental in the setup of many of the birthing organisations on the Shore including Kate Sheppard Midwifery, Maternity Associates and ShoreBirth. One day his dream is to see an Independent Birthing Centre on the Shore. He has delivered thousands of babies and while originally working as an LMC, his later work has focused on working with midwives. Paul believes that the ideal choice for a pregnant woman is a midwife and specialist working in partnership.

Paul feels the maternity landscape has changed significantly in the last 20 years. Pregnant women in 2014 are more aware of their choices and are far more informed of issues arising during their pregnancies. Beginnings represents, for Paul, a vision for how he sees maternity care going into the future.
